Stationery Review: Bookbinders Design Australia Desk Monthly Planner and To Do List

November 20, 2020

A few months ago Bookbinders Design released two paper desk accessories that caught my eye; a desk calendar and a todo list. Simple enough but this sort of desk planner is something that Iโ€™ve been looking out for, without searching for it, for a while and the todo list is a welcome's partner to the calendar!

Bookbinders Design is a sponsor of the blog but I purchased these items myself.

Ink Overview: Taccia Ukiyo-e Kitagawa Utamaro inks (Aomurasaki, Benizakura, Ume Murasake, and Usuzumi)

October 31, 2020 in Ink Review

Taccia have a series of inks based on Japanese Ukiyo-e artists and selections of their works. The first two series are based on four works from Hukusai Katsushika which are predominantly landscape works and the other series is on four works from Sharaku Tลshลซsai which are portrait works. The inks take inspiration from specific colours in each of the works.

Taccia has now released two more sets and the themes are the same, but the muse is different. The new eight-ink set can be split into the portrait works of Kitagawa Utamaro (this review) and the landscape works of Hiroshige.

Thanks to Desk Bandit for generously providing samples of 16 of these inks.

97% of my pens!

  • Robert Oster Cherry Blossom ๐ŸŒธ

  • Bungubox Mother ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ

  • More coming (somewhat periodically)โ€ฆ

Articles Iโ€™ve read:

  • review: nagasawa kobe #8 arima amber (ink sharks) โœ‘ Connie reviews one of my early Kobe Nagasawa ink purchases!

  • Fountain Pen Friendly Notebooks โ€“ A Big Roundup (Fountain Pen Love) โœ‘ a very useful article that would have taken a lot of work by John! It goes through 35 notebooks with mini reviews of each. Impressive!

  • Do you still read pen blogs? (Leigh Reyes) โœ‘ I certainly hope so! Leigh implies that people are moving to podcasts. I think pens and especially inks are way too visual to move to podcasts at the expense of blogs.

  • The Zeppelin Inspired Diplomat Aero Fountain Pen (Write Experience) โœ‘ A pen that I have ummed and ahhed about for a while. My first every Fountain Pen was a Diplomat Excellence A and they are great pens!

  • Notebook Review: Galen Leather Leather-Bound Tomoe River Notebook (Rediscover Analog) โœ‘ I suffer from not wanting to write in new nice journals; I canโ€™t imagine how long Iโ€™d take to start writing in a leather-bound notebook!

  • Ink Review #321: Monteverde Gemstone Fireopal (Fountain Pen Pharmacist) โœ‘ my favourite type of brown-orange!

  • Ink Review #316: Robert Oster Avocado (Fountain Pen Pharmacist) โœ‘ An interesting pale green that lives up to the name

Check out my Sponsors* and help out the blog:

  • Bookbinders Design (15% off code: BBDMACCHIATO) โœ’๏ธŽ BBD are having a sale and on that sale are the new Vol 2 Pilot Decimos! They also have some in-house todo lists and monthly (and weekly) planners as well as a custom Kaweco Sport! Also a very decent percentage off a Sailor KoP!

October 12, 2020

Pebble Stationery Co. are based in my home town and theyโ€™ve slowly and steadily expanding their products. Pebble Stationery make notebooks and leather notebook covers. This Undated Planner is one of their latest additions and it is an alternative to the Travelerโ€™s Company 019 - Free Weekly Planner with Memo. Iโ€™ve reviewed Pebble Stationery Co. products in the past with their Pocket Tomoe River Notebook and A5 Cahier Tomoe River Notebook.

Thanks so Lois from Pebble Stationery Co. for sending this in for review.
